Chicken Broth
Ingredients:
All the drippings, scraps and bones from a whole chicken
10 cups water, (or enough to cover the bones)
1/4 cup salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
1/2 teaspoon whole peppercorns
2 bay leaves
Crock Pot Method:
- Place all ingredients in crock pot.
- Cook on high for 6 hours.
- Strain broth through a fine strainer or cheesecloth.
- Allow to cool.
- Freeze in ice cube trays or in pint mason jars. (If freezing in mason jars, leave 1 inch of space at the top of the jar to account of any expansion of the broth.)
Stove Top Method:
- Place all ingredients in stove-top pot.
- Bring water to a boil.
- Simmer for 2 hours.
- Strain broth through a fine strainer or cheesecloth.
- Allow to cool.
- Freeze in ice cube trays or in pint mason jars. (If freezing in mason jars, leave 1 inch of space at the top of the jar to account of any expansion of the broth.)
